Harvard Business School Online is now providing free mini-lessons on a variety topics. As you can see below, one of them is on salary negotiation. (I had a hand in making it a while back.) Here is the link.
The session, which includes video and some interactive features, is 15 minutes long. One lesson is the importance of setting high aspirations if you’re being recruited to take on a new job. Another, if you are the prospective employer, is about the perils of bargaining against yourself.
Both sides of that coin are illustrated by how a very good—but not great—hockey player became the highest-paid pro athlete in the world simply by keeping his mouth shut.
Hope you enjoy it!
